George brought in a bundle of carved Christmas ornaments that he has carved over the years. It was so fun to see all the different types of carved ornaments that are possible with mostly a carving knife.

Several months ago Lorraine finished this beautiful carving of Mother Magdalen (the foundress of her order) that is to live in Palenque, Mexico with some the Sisters from her order there. A special crate was built to ship her since they all thought she was just too big to take on the plane. She is scheduled to arrive on Christmas eve. What a lovely present that will be.

Lorraine just completed this piece. The abstracted dancing figure is carved from Walnut and finished with Watco Natural Oil.

Martha finished this carving for her twin sister. The fanciful and mythical version of Garfield and Odie was completely her creation inspired by their love of the characters as kids.

The owl is also completed by Martha. It is carved from a lovely old piece of Redwood with Birdseye figure throughout. Hard to carve but beautiful.

Stan carved and painted this Duck for his granddaughter. One of the hardest parts was getting it to float even in the water. A small weight inlayed in the back of the tail leveled it out.

Here is the carving up close. Carved from Sugar pine and wood burned. When his front leg broke off Sophia looked at it and decided to leave the leg off. He would be the first of the animals in her group of disabled animals.
